Özet

In surgical operations, many techniques are used and their side effects are investigated. The purpose of this study was to analyze free radicals and antioxidant enzyme activities in blood and liver tissues of rabbits which were operated with Argon Plasma Scalpel (APS), Twenty four rabbits were grouped into three groups as follows: Control group, cautery group and APS group. Bistoury, cautery and APS techniques were used in these groups. Malondialdehyde (MDA) level and the activities of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) and Glutatione Peroxidase (GSH-Px) were analyzed in blood and tissue samples in the first operation, post-operation and re-group compared to cautery and control groups. In liver tissues, re-operation caused MDA level to reduce in APS group comparing with cautery and control groups. Re-operation also decreased SOD activity in control and APS groups when compared to cautery group. The fact that free radical formation in the APS group was lower when compared to the cautery and control group makes the APS device more efficient. We have concluded that this study will shed light on similar studies in the future, and control group in post-operation. Re-operation caused to reduce MDA in APS group was lower when compared to the cautery and control group makes the APS device more efficient.
