Özet

Gram staining, urease test, histologic examination, and culture are the most common methods for the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection. Fifty patients who had dyspeptic complaints were compared with 20 healthy subjects for Hp prevalence and for assessment of these methods. In patients with dyspepsia, Hp was detected in 66% with gram staining, in 40% by culture, in 78% with urease test, and in 72% with histologic examination. In the control group, Hp was detected in 50% with gram staining, in 60% with the urease test, and in 50% by histologic examination. In the true groups, detection of Hp with different methods were similar. The sensitivity of the culture method was lower than. the other methods, used (p<0.05). Hp detected with histologic examination was significantly higher in the patients group than in healthy controls (p = 0.039). The difference of Hp detection rate with the urease test between. patients and healthy subjects was noticeable (p = 0.063). Hp detection rate with gram staining was not significantly different between dyspeptic patients and healthy controls (p = 0.10).
