In this study, two new spectrophotometric methods were used for the simultaneous determination of carbinoxamine maleate and triamcinolone acetonide in their binary mixture. In the first method, i.e., derivative spectrophotometry, dA/dλ values were measured at 249.8 and 259.8 nm for carbinoxamine maleate and triamcinolone acetonide, respectively, in the first derivative spectra of their combination. The relative standard deviation of the method was found to be 0.18% for carbinoxamine maleate and 0.51% for triamcinolone acetonide. In the second method, i.e., absorbency ratio, the quantification of carbinoxamine maleate and triamcinolone acetonide was performed by using the absorbencies read at 265.8, 257.8 and 243.2 nm in the zero-order spectra of their mixture. The relative standard deviation of the method was found to be 1.20 and 1.25% for carbinoxamine maleate and triamcinolone acetonide, respectively. These two methods have been successfully applied to a tablet containing only these drugs.
