Özet

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the efects of music on parental anxiety whose children undergone a magnetic resonance (MR) imaging procedure. Method: Parents of one hundred and forty children sheduled for MR imaging were included in the study. The parents of each patient were randomized to 2 groups. Parents in the group 1 listened preferred enstrumantal music while group 2 was control. State Trait Anxety Inventroy (STAI) was used in order to evaluate anxiety. Additionally anxiety score of patients were recorded pre and postoperatively. Results: Both pre and postoperative parental and children anxiety scores did not differ between groups. There were no statistically significant change in pre and postoperative continuity anxiety score while the state anxiety levels reduced significantly for both groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: Listen to music has no significant effect on anxiety of parents whose children undergoing a MR imaging procedure.
