The antiinflammatory effects of lycorine and haemanthidine which were isolated from Sternbergia clusiana (Ker-Gawl.) Ker-Gawl ex Sprengel growing in Turkey were evaluated in mice by the carrageenan-induced oedema test. Antiinflammatory activities of lycorine and haemanthidine were higher than that of indomethacin.
