In this report, three cases with Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia were presented. Two of the cases were males, 31 and 32 years old and diagnosed as AIDS. The third patient was a female 23 years old with Addison disease and has been receiving steroid treatment for about four years. The symptoms of all patients were fever, cough and dyspnea on admission. Postmortem histopathologic examination of the lungs in two patients confirmed the diagnosis of P. carinii pneumonia. In one patient with AIDS, the diagnosis was made by showing the cysts of P. carinii in bronchoalveolar fluid. In the treatment, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole was used.
