Simultaneous determination of active ingredients in pharmaceutical preparations containing chlordiazepoxide by first derivative UV spectrophotometry

In this paper, rapid first-derivative UV spectrophotometric assay procedures are described for the simultaneous determination of chlordiazepoxide, pipenzolate bromide and clidinium bromide in their binary mixtures. The methods have been applied successfully to the capsule and the a sugar-coated tablet containing chlordiazepoxide - pipenzolate bromide and chlordiazepoxide-clidinium bromide combinations. The relative standard deviation was found to be 0.55% for chlordiazepoxide and 0.61% for pipenzolate bromide in the first combination and, 0.57% for chlordiazepoxide and 0.53% for clidinium bromide in the second combination. dA/dλ values were measured at 268.8 nm and 218.6 nm in the first mixture and, at 329.4 nm and 219,4 nm in the second mixture for chlordiazepoxide and its co-existing compounds respectively in their first derivative spectra of the solutions of these mixtures in 0.1N HCl.
