Özet

Chronic renal failure (CRF) affects many systems especially the neurologic, musculoskeletal and hemotologic systems. Anemia is usually observed in these patients due to the insuffiency of erythropoietin at the kidneys. Chronic anemia is one of the possible factors which is responsible for neural dysfunction in uremia. It has been reported that when the anemia was corrected, the patient's quality of life, cognitive function, and brain electrophysiology improved dramatically. For this purpose, 23 patients (10 females, 13 males) receiving recombinant human erythropoietin (rHuEPO) (three times 4000 Iu weekly) and 24 patients (8 females, 16 males) not receiving this drug during the hemodialysis program were included in our study. Motor and sensory conduction studies, late responses (F response and H reflex) and sympathetic skin response were studied on ENMG. The laboratory values of Hb, Htc, BUN, creatin, Fe, Fe binding capacity of serum, HCV and Hbs were obtained. Among the electrophysiologic findings no statistical difference was seen between two groups.
