Internal load is the reactions of the organism as a result of the physiological and psychological stress of the athletes during training and competition. In order to maintain the performance effectively, the reactions to the training should be constantly monitored by the trainers and/ or practitioners. There are many assesment methods in the internal load monitoring. These methods can be applied in field and laboratory conditions. With the rapid development of technology and sports sciences, new devices and ideas are emerging day by day. Assessments that were used only in the laboratory environment in the past have now become easy enough to be done with a watch or phone application. These innovations provide many facilities to sports scientists and practitioners. In team sports and individual sports, practitioners should design their training programs using these methods. There may be individual differences especially in team sports. During the same training period, athletes can give different physiological reactions from each others. It is known that these differences may reduce the efficiency of training as well as cause injuries and diseases. In addition, these evaluations become even more important in sports branches such as soccer, where there may be congested competition periods. In conclusion, in this review, it is aimed to contribute to sports scientists and practitioners by comprehensively addressing the formation and evaluation of internal loads during training.
