Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the parental satisfaction in the out patient surgery unit. Method: Following ethical committee approval, a questionnaire was given to one of the parents of 100 children undergoing surgery in the outpatient surgery unit before the children were discharged. They were informed that their answers would not have any effect on the care given to their children. The data were analyzed using a chi-square test. Results: Parents were highly satisfied with patient care, the ease of finding the location of the outpatient surgery unit, nursing care and ability to accompany their child. The preoperative fasting period and the fact that pre and post operative children waited at the same place were factors which caused dissatisfaction. The most crucial request of the parents was for a playing area for the children. The parents with lower education level reported higher satisfaction levels than parents with higher education level (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, parents were highly satisfied with the out patient surgery unit. To improve the quality of day case surgery unit, more studies should be carried out.
