Halal is a concept that includes
products that are healthy and safe to apply within the framework of the rules
of the Islamic religion. Therefore, the Halal market is developing rapidly in
Muslim as well as non-Muslim societies. One of the most important features of
this market is that it includes a variety of different sectors such as food, beverage,
tourism, textile and pharmaceuticals. The Halal pharmaceutical industry is
perhaps one of the most challenging sectors in terms of application and
research.
To guarantee they do not consume
or utilize non-halal goods or services, Muslim customers need Halal
certification for pharmaceutical products too. The producers and Halal
certification bodies should reassure Muslim customers that all circulating
products and services are really Halal. Lokman Hekim University Halal Product
Application and Research Center (LHUHAC) is a rapidly developing
scientific-based research and application center established in 2021 at Lokman
Hekim University.
One of the aims of LHUHAC is to
examine the issues within the concept of Halal with scientific rigor to produce
practical and applicable solutions. Accordingly, the aim of this oral
presentation is to scientifically examine the challenges in the Halal
pharmaceutical industry and propose realistic solutions.
