In this study two new spectrophotometric methods were used for the simultaneous determination of analgine and paracetamol in their binary mixture. In the first method, derivative spectrophotometry, dA/dλ, values were measured at 249.2 nm and 264.8 nm for analgine and paracetamol respectively, in the first derivative spectra of their mixtures. The relative standard deviation of the method was found to be 0.35 % for analgine and 0.31% for paracetamol. In the second, absorbancy ratio method, the quantification of analgine and paracetamol was performed by using the absorbances read at 256.8 nm, 235.5 nm and 264.6 nm in the zero-order spectra of their mixture; relative standard deviations of the method were found to be 0.49 % and 1.26 % for analgine and paracetamol respectively. These two methods have been successfully applied to a tablet containing these drugs.
