Özet

Objective: The study aims to determine the problems of the female Turkish immigrants, who live in a German city and to evaluate the group counseling, which was intended for the determined problems. Methods: This study used qualitative methods consists of two stages as problems identification and group counseling. Sampling is made out of 26 Turkish women, who applied to a social solidarity centre called 'Caritas' and it is chosen focus group interviews as data collection methodology. The data is evaluated in two stages as transcript data and content analysis. The problems have been determined by NANDA (North American Nursing Diagnosis Association) Classification. On the group counseling, cognitive restructuring model has been practiced to the identified problems and psychodrama was used as help technique. The evaluation of the study has made by the researcher at a evaluation focus group interview after the counseling sessions. Findings: The results of this study are grouped as physical, emotional and social problems. The pain of the head and arthritis, gastric problems, fatigue and palpitation are composed of physical problems. Emotional problems are loneliness, anger and depressive symptoms; social problems are dependence, change in the entertainment interests, social isolation and ineffective community coping at the social problems area. It has been found that the group counseling has made some notable changes for the problem areas. Discussion: The cognitive restructuring practices during the counseling have made a positive effect on loneliness and anger problems. In the social field, the same positive effects have been observed on ineffective community coping. No change has been observed on physical problems. The psychodrama techniques, which were used a help technique, have affected physical and emotional problems as headaches, gastric problems, anger and depressive symptoms and it has been observed positive effects on them. It is recommended to provide group counseling services in mother tongue to the risk groups as women and in the group counseling should be preferred practices such as cognitive restructuring and psychodrama to express them more efficiently excluding psychosocial and psychosomatic problems.
